Grindstone BaseThe intent of the Maine Outdoor Education Program (MOEP) is to immerse children in the wilderness areas of the Katahdin Region. To serve and support the children best. MOEP is delighted to have school age children use the new MOEP Base at our Grindstone - East branch Location

All programming will encompass one of the following seasonally appropriate activities: mountain biking, kayaking, canoeing, hiking, snowshoeing and Nordic skiing.

  • MOEP will provide all equipment and protective gear for participants.
  • MOEP will consider the acquisition and design of adaptive equipment for students with disabilities.
  • Equipment and gear will be state of the art that is inspected and maintained daily while in use.
  • MOEP will be proactive in evaluating community and wilderness sites for use and assist in the maintenance of sites to encourage use and safety.
  • Directions to the East Branch From Medway - Take Route 11N for 11.9 Miles and turn left after Haybrook. Dirt road on left. Follow dirt road in for .5 miles to reach Campus Building.
